When you first hear the term internet addiction, you may smile and think this new term is a joke. Okay, so maybe people do waste a lot of time on the internet. But how can that be such a bad thing?

Yet, internet addiction can be a serious problem. Like many addictions, it is a compulsive disorder. First, take the word addiction itself. Addiction means that you are dependent on something, it is taking up a lot of your time. Now think about the time one can waste on the internet. Okay, so an hour here and there isn't a bad thing. But if a person is addicted to the internet they will be online longer than just an hour and it won't just be an event that happens occasionally, being online is something they do daily for hours on end. This addiction can lead to time away from family and friends. It can even led to time that should be spent at work.

Internet addiction can be further explained into subcategories, too. One may not just be addicted to the internet. One can get addicted to certain activities that perform while on the internet such as: online auctions, online chat rooms, online surfing, online gaming, and this addiction can even led to more serious online problems such as online gambling and online cybersex.

How do you know if you have a problem? You should start by looking at your internet habits. Then ask yourself such questions as: How often are you online? Does being online ever interfere with your work or home duties and if so how often does it? How often do you check your email? Do people in your home complain about how often you are online? Do you continue to search out new online friends? When you are not online do you anticipate when you can go back online? Do you get annoyed when someone interrupts you while you are online? Do you loose sleep because you are online late at night? Do you ever hide the length of time you were online?

The answer to the above questions can indicate that you have a problem. If you think you do, what should you do? Like with any other health problem, you may want to consider counseling. If you can't afford counseling, you may want to check out some websites that offers some help.

It may seem strange that there are websites that help with online addiction. Yet, if you think about it online websites may be the best place for online addiction sufferer to seek help. A great site is netaddiction.com. At this site, they further explain what online addiction is. They also have online self tests you can take, to see if you have a problem and to see just how deep your problem is. They also offer advice for more serious online problems such as online gambling and online cybersex activities. They even have chat rooms where recovering addicts and family members of recovering addicts can come together and share.

Should one avoid the internet for fear of getting addicted, no? The internet is a wonderful tool. You can learn a lot online. Plus, it is a great place to just relax and have fun. But moderation is the key in any activity, including the internet.

Parents should also monitor their children to make sure that they are not becoming addicted to the internet. Some children, especially teenagers, have problems building friendships and relationships. You don't want your child's only friendships to be on the internet.

The internet and your online friends should not take the place of real life and real life people. If you remember that one sentence, you will continue to enjoy the internet in a healthy way.

How to Replace A Nintendo DS Case

Did you accidentally slip your Nintendo DS off your hand(s), where it fell hard on the floor and you broke a hinge or get a nasty scratch visible on your Nintendo DS case? Before you curse yourself, rest easy that you could replace your Nintendo DS case on your own. But be warned, it is a tricky job. You need special tools and LOTS of patience. If you don't think you have what it takes, it is always better to send it in the nearest trusty store for repair.

Should you have the guts to do this, let's get started. When you're calm and ready to dissemble your Nintendo DS case, place a cloth or towel for base and keep a saucer handy to put in the screws.

Now turn your DS around so that the back side is facing you right up. First, remove the two rubber pads on top. Then, remove the battery case screw on the down right corner, two other screws on the left side, and the screw on the DS card slot. Take the battery off; remove the screw and the cover inside too. After all screws are secured on your saucer, remove this backside carefully. Remove all parts from the shell, but be careful if you're removing the shoulder buttons as they have springs that may jump out.

Take out the black and white cables near the DS card slot, and take the black one underneath the slot to the other side. Then remove the screws on either side. You can now remove the PCB from the other half of the bottom part of your Nintendo DS case.

Remove the two screws on top A-B-X-Y buttons, and flip the black bar above the direction pad upside to snap off the flat wire and gently take it off downwards. Remove the power indicator. Put the flat wire on the slim slot, push it left wise while pushing the shell right wise to the flat wire at the same time. Now remove the bottom part from the top part of your Nintendo DS case, and put it aside.

Turn your attention to the top part of the case. Slip out the angle adjuster on the left side, roll the flat wire and take off the ring on the other side. Next, look at the top screen. There are four screws hidden underneath pads on each corner around the top screen, remove both the covering and the screws. It's a bit challenging, so take your time.

When you're done, push this top part with your thumbs on each side of the screen and your index fingers underneath, and slide it upwards. You should be able to open the top shell. Roll the flat wire and push right wise to take it off completely. Congratulations! You can now change each and every bit of your Nintendo DS case. Please assemble them in backward manner accordingly.

WARNINGS: Don't forget to line up the switch with the on/off button or you may break your switch!

Satellite Internet in Iraq

You've seen it in old time war movies-the entrenched soldier, desperately awaiting a letter from his stateside sweetheart, or hoping for a card from home that has been months in coming. This scene is a remnant streamyx combo promotion times past, when paper letters circulated the globe and the closest thing to a laptop was your Remington portable typewriter.

Nowadays, we have a little thing called electronic mail. The birth of the digital world has changed the way we live. We communicate via social networks, messaging devices and VoIP services. We are constantly online, constantly connected and plugged in. We happily chat with friends thousands of miles away across the Streamyx Tv we post our every deed and thoughts on blogs and microblogs. We share pictures and videos. We make virtual friendships and microsoft windows xp professional x64 in heated debates with people we've never seen before. The internet makes this all possible.

And now, even in war torn Iraq where harsh desert climes rise to over 40 degrees and bullets constantly whiz through the Broadband Internet Service Provider troops are getting their fix of Facebook and Skype courtesy of satellite internet. But it wasn't always so. Before getting hooked up via satellite, troops had to communicate the old-fashioned way, via snail mail. Letters to Iraq take three weeks to arrive at least, phone time is limited, and getting access to email may take hours. That was then. Now, military leads have taken the initiative to get high speed, high quality internet the kind most soldiers are accustomed to at home.

They hired a satellite company to take care of all of their internet needs. Excited soldiers set up the satellite equipment in record speeds. Now they have satellite internet access in cyber tents, the military camp's equivalent of a cybercafe. Each tent contains upwards of twenty computers connected to each satellite dish. With more computers and an internet connection speed of two Mbps, soldiers get to chat, browse their favorite sites, watch streaming videos, and email on a daily basis.

Many soldiers now can manage their banking accounts, pay bills and order gifts online. They get to read up on the news and follow events in their hometown. The best perk for soldiers is being able to chat in real time with their loved ones using a VoIP service and a voice and video conferencing application with webcams. Troops can talk to their wives and see their children practically every day-all courtesy of satellite broadband.

The arrival of satellite internet has made a huge difference in morale. It's not easy being stationed in a faraway war zone where your life is constantly in peril; however, being able to keep in touch with family and friends makes all the difference. The morale of the troops has been boosted drastically.

Besides keeping the soldiers happy, satellite internet is also being used by generals and high-level officers to answer emails; given the speed and quality of the service, many switch from the slower military based service NIPRNet to get things done faster and more efficiently.

Stylus Out, Touch Screen Phones Are In

I'm sure like most adsl broadband you, it took a little bit of time to stop losing those tiny little stylus' and when we first started hearing about phones of Telekom Streamyx future doing away with them, and all we had to use was out finger (and not worry too much if it's a little oily), we couldn't wait! I don't know how many times I had to go the T-Mobile center to keep replacing them and got to know my salesperson quite well. Several years ago, he told me that Apple was working on something exciting that would do away with that pesky think device.

Now that the stylus is finally heading to the archives, the time couldn't be better to start thinking about getting a touch-screen smartphone. Ever since Business Services Center Jobs and his Apple empire brought the iPhone on the market with his usual tidal wave marketing campaign, the competition has been popping out their shortcuts to internet millions clone iPhone creations all over the place.

Many of the iPhone clones weren't anything more than barely dressed up feature phones. The LG Dare has a sleek and powerful touch option on Verizon, but the downside is a screen with lower resolution than the almighty iPhone. Now the Samsung Instinct is somewhat similar to the LG Dare, but the upside is it's a solid, inexpensive choice for Sprint subscribers. From my perspective, Instinct is a better deal today for two reasons: It now works with the outstanding Opera Mini 4.2 browser, and Sprint added over-the-air calendar sync with Microsoft Outlook and Exchange. I personally have had some issues with Sprint, but now it looks as if they're listening to what their customers want. Hopefully that will last.

Now for someone looking for a phone that can support third-party applications in the native setting, The Dare and the Instinct aren't true smartphones, however. If you want a touch-screen smartphone, though, you still have plenty of options. Now, along with being a true touch screen phone, the T-Mobile G1, the first real Google Android smartphone, boasts a slide-out Wireless Adsl Modem keyboard.

As usual, Blackberry is coming out swinging to stay ahead of the pack with the BlackBerry Storm 9530. This will be the very first touch-screen BlackBerry and puts its own take on the touch interface with its click-enabled LCD. Naturally, other companies are quickly getting onboard the touch screen craze, with touchscreen Windows Mobile handsets like the slider HTC Touch Pro and the iPhone-esque Samsung Omnia. These models both make good use of the notoriously finicky WM interface. Better late than never, Nokia has entered the playing field after years of keyboarded smart devices with the Symbian-based 5800 XPressMusic.

We'll follow up with reviews of these smart phones late this week. I'm still waiting for the last one to come in to review.
